M. H. Alshaya Co., the leading international franchise operator for over 55 of the world's most recognised retail brands, today announced a significant increase in its brand presence in Jordan, with seven new brands scheduled to open for the first time in the country at the new Taj Mall in Amman.

Two casual dining brands, P.F. Chang's and PizzaExpress will open in the mall in 2012. Already operated by Alshaya in other Middle Eastern markets, the brands' arrival in Jordan reflects Alshaya's commitment to continually introduce new retail concepts to consumers.

As well as expanding the choice of brands available to Jordanians, an additional 10 brands, already operated by Alshaya in Jordan, will be opening their doors in Taj Mall including, Mothercare, Starbucks Coffee, Payless Shoesource, The Body Shop and M.A.C. The combined presence of a total of 17 international brands will create an exciting one-stop destination for customers who want to shop and relax in the premium retail environment that the mall will offer.

Anticipating Taj Mall's planned opening, John Hadden, Senior Vice President of Retail Property, M. H. Alshaya, said: "We know that there is a keen appetite among Jordan's consumers for these much-loved international brands. For each of the brands making their debut in Jordan, we wanted to make sure we had the right environment for launch, and with Taj Mall, we have found the ideal location. We look forward to the mall's opening day and to expanding our presence in Jordan."

Alshaya first entered the country in 2005 with the introduction of The Body Shop, Starbucks, Mothercare, Claire's and Mac. Today Alshaya currently operates 28 stores in the market and employs more than 400 people across its business.
