Alshaya and KSGD continues partnership to offer part-time work experience opportunities to Kuwaiti students with special needs
19 Feb 2014
M. H. Alshaya Co., in partnership with the Kuwait Society for the Guardians of the Disabled (KSGD), gave 10 young Kuwaiti students with special needs the opportunity to spend their spring break working part-time in Mothercare, Debenhams and Starbucks stores at the prestigious Avenues Mall.
The 10-day spring programme was introduced in 2013, in addition to Alshaya's existing summer programme collaboration with KSGD. The goal is to introduce young Kuwaitis with special needs to valuable work experience in the retail sector and also to develop important life skills such as teamwork and communications. Alshaya's store teams enjoyed mentoring the students and found the time spent with them very rewarding.
Alshaya's collaboration with KSGD began in 2010 through an initiative with Starbucks and the partnership extended in 2011 to include Mothercare and Debenhams. All three brands have since provided the students with part-time work experience in their stores.
Mohammed Alshaya, Executive Chairman of M. H. Alshaya Co., commented: "We are very pleased to be continuing our co-operation with the KSDG this year. Our partnership with this valuable organisation provides us with a great opportunity to help Kuwaiti students with special needs discover new skills and talents. We are pleased to be making this contribution to our local community."
As a leading international franchise business Alshaya is able to offer many different career and development opportunities to young Kuwaitis looking for experience and roles in the retail sector. For more information please contact hrsupport@alshaya.com.
