First London outlet for US frozen yoghurt brand marks Alshaya's entry into the UK; New store follows the expansion of the brand in Turkey and Lebanon
Pinkberry, the internationally acclaimed frozen yoghurt brand enjoyed by global celebrities, has opened the doors of its first UK outlet at the acclaimed Selfridges Foodhall in London. The opening, on 3rd August, also marked the entry into the UK for M. H. Alshaya, the leading international retailer, which already operates the Pinkberry brand in the Middle East and Russia. The new opening follows Alshaya's expansion of the brand into Turkey and Lebanon this July which has introduced the original and best-frozen yoghurt to new markets and new consumers.
With a prime position in the London Foodhall, Pinkberry at Selfridges has quickly become a magnet for Londoners looking for their first taste of the frozen yoghurt brand, with queues forming outside Selfridges on opening day.
"Since its launch in West Hollywood, California, Pinkberry has quickly become a global brand and we're thrilled to be opening the first UK destination as a key part of our growth," says Pinkberry CEO Ron Graves.
"We were always confident that Pinkberry would be a hit in the UK, but its instant appeal to UK consumers has been very gratifying," says Mohammed Alshaya, Executive Chairman of M. H. Alshaya. "We are delighted to be able to expand our operations into the UK through a partnership with such an iconic, exciting and innovative brand as Pinkberry."
Pinkberry is the original frozen yoghurt, first launched in California in 2005, and today it is the number one frozen yoghurt brand. Pinkberry is made with only low fat yoghurt and natural low-fat milk that is the perfect balance of tart, tangy and sweet, resulting in a light, refreshing and clean taste that is truly craveable.
Pinkberry first partnered with Alshaya in 2009 and this brilliant brand of healthy goodness met with an outstanding response from customers who often queue to enjoy this guilt-free treat, just as they did when the first store opened in Beverly Hills. From one store in Kuwait, Alshaya has expanded the brand into United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Russia, Turkey and Lebanon. Pinkberry's arrival in the UK marks a further expansion for the brand with further markets targeted for openings later in 2011.
