Alshaya and KSGD partner to offer part-time work experience opportunities to young Kuwaiti men and women
02 Mar 2013
M.H. Alshaya Co., in partnership with the Kuwait Society for the Guardians of the Disabled (KSGD), gave ten young Kuwaiti men and women with special needs the opportunity to spend their spring break working part-time in Mothercare, Debenhams and Starbucks.
The 10-day spring programme was introduced this year in addition to Alshaya's existing summer programme collaboration with KSG. The goal is to introduce young Kuwaitis with special needs to valuable work experience in the retail sector and also to help develop important life skills such as teamwork and communications. Alshaya's store teams enjoyed mentoring the students and found the time spent with them very rewarding.
Alshaya's collaboration with KSGD began in 2010 through an initiative with Starbucks and the partnership extended in 2011 to include Mothercare and Debenhams. All three brands have since provided the students with part-time work experience in their stores.
“We are delighted to be extending our co-operation with the KSGD. Our partnership with this valuable organisation provides us with an important way to help young kids with special needs discover new skills and talents. We are pleased to make this contribution to our local community,” said Mohammed Alshaya, Executive Chairman of M.H. Alshaya Co. As a leading international retail franchise business Alshaya is able to offer many different career and development opportunities to young Kuwaitis looking for experience and roles in the retail sector.
