Alshaya Group concludes its annual Summer Internship Programme for Kuwaiti students

In line with its commitments to support youth and students across the region, Alshaya Group partnered with the Public Authority of Manpower (PAM) in Kuwait to provide four-week internships and training programmes to nearly 100 Kuwaiti students, during their summer break.

Last week, the event concluded with a graduation ceremony where the interns were presented with Certificates of Completion at a ceremony that took place at Burj Alshaya.

The collaboration with PAM offered Kuwaiti students hands-on professional training experience in the world of retail and was designed to help them gain the skills and practical training required in Starbucks, Hospitality, Apparel & Wellness, H&M and the Head Office.

Speaking about the programme Graeme Cook – Chief People Officer, Alshaya Group said: “At Alshaya, we are committed to supporting youth through all means, within the framework of our integrated development planning, which is concerned with training young national personnel and preparing them to hold specialised positions in the retail sector. From the retail perspective, it was a delight to see the difference it made to our customers’ in-store experience to have young Kuwaitis assist them at the stores. We aim to expand and accommodate more students from those wishing to join the program and benefit from the professional experience offered in its sessions.”

Organising the annual Summer Internship Programme builds on the remarkable success achieved by this programme over recent years. This comes as part of Alshaya Group’s endeavours to support young people as they navigate their way towards work in the future.

Altaf Al Saeed - Field Training Supervisor for Manpower Affairs said: “We have a close relationship with Alshaya Group over the years and take great pride in supporting Kuwaiti youth and shaping their future through numerous initiatives. Our partnership with Alshaya is designed for students to help them gain practical experience by engaging in the actual environment of retail business and getting familiar with the working mechanism within the different departments.

Every year, Alshaya works closely with government organizations in Kuwait to provide internship and training programmes to Kuwaiti students to help develop the theoretical aspect delivered at universities through exercise and practical training in the retail sector.
