Prestigious London Event Celebrates Ties of Friendship
The strength of the relationship between Kuwait and the United Kingdom was celebrated last week at a prestigious Gala Dinner held at the Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane by the Kuwait British Friendship Society.
Mohammed Alshaya, Executive Chairman of M.H. Alshaya Co., and a board member of the Society, was delighted to co-host the event with His Excellency Khaled Al Duwaisan, Kuwait's Ambassador to the United Kingdom. The evening brought together over 180 distinguished guests representing many different sectors including government, the diplomatic corps, business, culture and NGOS.
Founded in 1996, the Kuwait British Friendship Society regularly meets, both in Kuwait and the United Kingdom. The Society has a clear focus on fostering a positive and constructive relationship between the two countries at political, commercial and cultural levels. Since its foundation, the Society has attracted a strong and dynamic network of members with shared values and goals.
Following an address from the Right Honorable Alistair Burt, MP, Minister of State for International Development and Minister of State for the Middle East at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Mr Alshaya spoke of the "deep and multi-faceted relationship that the two countries have established and strengthened over many years". He referred to a constructive climate of friendship and to the strong commercial and cultural ties that exist between Great Britain and The State of Kuwait. He concluded the evening by asking guests to celebrate "continued friendship, co-operation and shared opportunity".
