27 Feb 2013
M.H. Alshaya Co., was recognised as the leading company for training Kuwaiti nationals in 2012 by the Manpower and Government Restructuring Programme (MGRP). At the awards ceremony held earlier this month in Kuwait, representatives of Alshaya received a commemorative plaque from the MGRP which was presented by Abdulaziz Al-Zaben, the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission.
This award recognised Alshaya's sustained commitment and collaboration in 2012 with the MGRP to provide young Kuwaiti citizens with retail training programmes, in addition to both full-time and part-time employment opportunities and internship programmes. This joint effort helps foster the mutual goal of Alshaya and the MGRP to encourage more young men and women in Kuwait to seek careers in the private sector.
As a leading international retail franchise operator of more than 70 brands, Alshaya is well placed to offer diverse professional training courses and employment opportunities, where participants can learn the fundamentals of retail including marketing, financial management, customer service and visual merchandising.
Alshaya manages a wide range of initiatives aimed at developing the skills of young Kuwaiti men and women in retail, including the annual Retail Summer Programme, a month-long programme that provides first-hand experience on the shop floor; the Graduate Recruitment Programme, a full-time head office based scheme which recruits young graduates and places them in an area of the business that reflects their studies and skills; and the Retail Management Programme, a dedicated two-year course for those interested in retail operational roles.
